Janie Buckner Obituary

Janie Ann Buckner, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 14th, 2023. She was born November 28th, 1939, in Etowah, TN to Virgil and Mary French Newman. She was predeceased by her Husband Lee Buckner, Father Virgil Newman, Mother Mary French Newman, Sons Johnny and Joey Corum, Brothers Mack, Gerald, and twin Johnny Newman, Sister Sandra “Gail” Guffy, Granddaughter Nicole Corum, and Great Grandson Devin Corum. Janie is survived by her Brother Syms Newman (Dora Newman), Sister-in-Law Mary Newman, Sons Larry Corum (Laura Corum) and Virgil “Eddie” Corum (Leesa Corum), Daughters Sandra “Missy” Corum and Phyllis Hennessy (Steve Hennessy), Granddaughters Lisha Duggan, Brittany Huggins, and Felisha Babineau, Grandsons Scotty Corum, Steven Hennessy, Raymond Corum, Nathaniel Corum, and Dru Gable, thirteen great grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and close friend Barbara Green.

Janie held many roles in her lifetime but none more important to her than the roles of being a Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. Janie was a member of Mars Hill Methodist church, former beautician, and restaurant owner. Janie truly lived life to the fullest chatting with friends and family, bowling, spoiling her grandkids, making crafts for all her loved ones with lots of glitter of course, shopping for everyone but herself, rooting on her Atlanta Braves, and going to the salon for a good pampering. To some she went by Janie, but to her family she was simply Grandma. She always talked about how proud she was of her family and would do anything to ensure they were happy and healthy. Janie’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. She would not want any of her loved ones to cry but to smile thinking back to all the wonderful memories and funny times she shared with everyone. She will forever be in our hearts and always by our side. Janie will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Heaven gained an angel and the loved ones left behind gained the best guardian angel anyone could ever ask for.
