Jo Evans Burnette, age 84, of Riceville, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ed and Mallie Belle Morrow Evans, husband of 62 years: James “Jim” Burnette, brothers: “P.J.” Evans and John Paul Evans, sister: Jane Morrow, a daughter-in-law: Brenda Burnette, and a sister-in-law: Linda Dale Evans.
Jo is survived by her children: Missy Kile, Mike and Diane Burnette, Greg Burnette, Mark and Carol Burnette, Cliff and Nikki Burnette, and Rick and Debbie Hope, grandchildren: Stephanie and Norm Owens, Whitney and Jamie Lewis, Haiden Linton, Darrin Burnette, Hunter and McKenzie Burnette, Taylor Burnette, Summer Kile and fiancé Jonah Gardenhire, Brenda Baker and Kaite Baker, great-grandchildren: Braylon Burnette, Oakley Burnette, Riley Linton, McKenzie Lewis, Lillie Baker, Kashton Baker, Renleigh Jo Gardenhire, Waverly Owens, and Angel Howard, her siblings: Tobbie (Dub) Walker, Teena (Jim) Hogan, Sheila (Ray) Lovingood, and Buster Evans, along with several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home, with funeral services at 7:00 PM. Pastor Jake Evans will be officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Riceville Cemetery.
Jo’s sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Burnette, Rick Hope, and Mark Burnette.
