Johnny Manuel Rivera, age 65, of Athens, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. A native of Fort Morgan, Colorado, he is the son of Dolores Rivera and the late Antonio Rivera.
Johnny was a retired, decorated United States Marine Master Sergeant who served his country with honor for 22 years. Johnny devoted his life to his family and was beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His greatest enjoyment was traveling with his loving wife and spending time with his family and dogs.
Johnny is preceded in death by his niece: Sandra Gutierrez, his mother-in-law: Dona M. Wilcox, brother-in-law: Robert J. Wilcox, and brother-in-law: Jimmie L. Potter, Jr.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 25 years: Roberta Rivera, sons: Johnny Rivera, Jr, Shawn Rivera, Nick Rivera, and Brandon Rivera, daughter: Dominique Rivera Parker, brothers: Felix Rivera, Carlos (Virginia) Rivera, and Victor (Sylvia) Rivera, sisters: Melly (Reuben) Castro, Ofelia Chavez, Juanita Cruz, and Marjorie Garcia, father-in-law: Robert Wilcox, Jr., sister-in-law: Rebecca Potter, brother-in-law: Ryan Wilcox, nieces and nephews: Tyler Potter, Andrew (Jess) Wilcox, Tara Null, Makenzie(Colton) Clark, Molly Wilcox, Jaxon Wilcox, Cal Null, Forrest and Jonah Clark.
Johnny will be greatly missed and will forever be in the hearts of his loved ones.
