June Deloras Coleman Ammons, age 78, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on September 21, 2025. She was retired after 40 years of service from the Athens Housing Authority and was a lifelong member of Woodward Church of God.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Cora “Tokie” Yarberry Coleman, a sister: Jewell Ann Coleman Adams, a brother: Alvin Coleman.
June is survived by her husband of 28 years: Benjamin J. Ammons of Athens, daughters: Coren Jack of Knoxville and Melissa (Jason) Bryson of Athens, son: Benjamin J. (Tonya) Ammons, Jr. of Niota, siblings: Nancy (Sherlock) Holmes, Patsy (Pete) Peterson, Mary White, Dale Lyles, and Clara (Rod) Starnes, grandchildren: Rachel (Jackson) Guy, John Bryson, Emily Millsaps, and Jackson Lewis, along with many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at McMinn Memory Gardens on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Brother Jerry Stephens and Reverend Dustin Wilds officiating.
John Bryson, Jackson Guy, Jackson Lewis, Jason Bryson, Alvin Starnes, and Jerry Stephens will serve as pallbearers.
