Kenneth Don Wilson, age 73, of Niota, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2022. He is now walking the streets of gold without his oxygen tank and has no more pain. He always enjoyed laughing and making other people laugh. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Ken was a native of Sweetwater and longtime resident of McMinn County. He was a son of the late Joseph Riley and Lillie Mae Myers Wilson. He was also proceeded in death by sisters Karen Wilson and Ava Sue Whited.
Ken was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Vietnam. He worked in law enforcement for 35 years.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Melinda Shanahan Wilson of Niota;
Daughters Melena Wilson of Niota, Jessica Catron (Matt) of Madisonville, and Laura Anderson (John) of Sweetwater;
Sons Justin Wilson of Sweetwater, Courtney Kile of Gallatin and Mark Wilson (Paige) of Sweetwater;
Stepchildren Denia Denton of Niota, Damian Coleman of Niota, Jayson Tallent of Sweetwater, and Zamari White of Niota;
10 Grandchildren;
2 Great Grandchildren;
Sisters Shirley Wallace of Mt. Juliet, Mary Jo Randolph (Don) of Cleveland, and Faye Bearden (Chuck) of Hickory, KY;
Stepmother Faye Wilson;
Stepsister Kim Clark (Greg) of Sweetwater;
Several Nieces and Nephews.
A special thanks to the staff at Sweetwater Hospital where he spent many days and was always given such good care and to Avalon Hospice Care and Nurse Rob Durst.
A Memorial Service will be at 2 PM Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Wilson officiating.
