Kenneth “Ken” Ross Benton, age 82, lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. He retired from McKinney Excavating after 42 years of operating a front-end loader. Ken was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years: Brenda Gayle Morrow Benton, and his parents: George and Ora Dennis Benton.
Ken is survived by his daughter: Kelly Mooney (Robert), son: Craig Benton (Janet), grandchildren: Tara Rhea (Eric), Barry Shaver (Katheryn), Brooklyn Massengill, Zack Benton (Barb), Jake Benton, and Emileigh Benton, nine great-grandchildren, a sister: Catherine Womac, a brother: James “Jimmy” Benton (Evelyn), along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Clear Springs Cemetery in Athens with Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Barry Shaver, Zack Benton, Jake Benton, Stacy Benton, Doug Benton, and Stacy Wright will serve as pallbearers.
