Larry Wayne Lunsford

Larry Wayne Lunsford, age 78, a native and lifelong resident of Athens, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and loved any kind of sports. Larry was very talented in woodworking and artistry.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Luther Lee and Ella Mae Upchurch Lunsford, a sister: Beverly Price, and a brother: Marvin Lunsford.

Larry is survived by his loving wife: Rita Sue Watson Lunsford, daughters: Karen Lunsford and Lisa Sue Lunsford, a son: Brian Christopher Lunsford, grandchildren: Brian, Nathan, Madison, David, Caleb, and Gabriel, great-grandchildren: Jackson, Andrew, Ella Mae, Isaiah, and Roman, his sisters: Janice Winsett and Teresa Clark (Steve), brothers: Luther Lee Lunsford, Jr. (Martha), Danny Ray Lunsford, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
