Laura Jean Abbott

Laura Jean Abbott, age 74 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at her residence.

Laura was a native of Los Angeles, CA and resident of McMinn County for over 25 years.  She was the daughter of the late Robert Earl Abbott and Mary Frances Robinson Abbott.  She is also preceded in death by a brother Frank Abbott.

Laura was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  She taught school both in Japan and at Tennessee Meiji Gakuin High School (TMG), formerly Tennessee Military Institute (TMI) in Sweetwater.  She was accomplished in both painting and photography.

Laura is survived by her brother Robert Abbott of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Nephews Edward Abbott of Phoenix, AZ, and Fabian Abbott of Tustin, CA, and Niece Adriana Anestis of Anaheim, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday June 2, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Dr. John Arthur Orr officiating.  Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Afterwards there will be a reception at the church.
