Lawrence “Larry” Robert Langford, age 89, a native of Westfield, NY and longtime resident of McMinn County, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He retired from Transport One as an over-the-road driver. He later served as the dispatcher for Transport One in Sweetwater, owned and operated Larry’s Lawn Service, served as sergeant at the Athens Police Department Reserves, and volunteered for St. Paul’s Food Pantry (now Table Graces), and was the manager at the Soup Kitchen at St. Paul’s for two years.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Frances Tooker Langford, a sister: Elizabeth Wheaton, brothers: Arthur Langford, Clark Langford, and Roberts Langford, Jr., a son-in-law: Greg Burton, and a grandson: Dirk Burton.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years: Dolores Ciminella Langford, his children: Lucille Dudley (Greg), Duane Langford , Cheryl Curtis (Eddie), David Langford (Robin), and Joan Burton, a stepdaughter: Crystal Sliger (Mark), 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his special friends: Buzz Montgomery and Bill Perry.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Ziegler Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 1:00 PM with Reverend Mark Sliger officiating.
Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at McMinn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
