Lela “Ruth” Henderson, age 86, longtime resident of McMinn County, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. She was a born-again Christian, now safe in the arms of Jesus. Ruth attended West View Baptist Church. Ruth enjoyed working with her friends as she volunteered at the Better Living Center in Athens for over 20 years.
She was a daughter of the late Cass and Tennie Price Henderson. She is further preceded by a son: Danny Moore, daughters-in-law: Charlotte Moore and Tonya Moore, grandson: Steve Moore, brothers: Charles Henderson, Herb Henderson, Mack Henderson, and Jack Henderson, and sisters: Geneva Richesin and Joy Faye Bottoms.
Ruth is survived by her daughter: Bennie Faye Richesin (Danny), son: Billy Moore, grandsons: Nick Brown (Tabitha), Clay Moore (Amber), Joshua Moore (Whitney), Skylar Moore (Delmi), and Barry Richesin, granddaughter: Heather Emmerson, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers: Bronce Henderson and Bennie Henderson, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Nick Brown and Keith Whited officiating. Interment will follow at Pond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Niota.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Hearth Hospice workers. Special thanks to Becky Cannon for her dedication and loving care for Ruth.
Nick Brown, Ronnie Brown, Mike Johnson, Skylar Moore, Trent Thompson, and Fred Cannon will serve as pallbearers.
