Lewis Ross Partain, age 84, native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was an avid NASCAR and wrestling fan. Lewis retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 32 years. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Clifford R. and Mary Thompson Partain, his loving wife of 53 years: Doris Ann Jamerson Partain, sisters: Jill Smith, Marie Morrow, Betty Ruth Teague, Iona Davis, and Orlean Shoemaker, and brothers: Marion “M.C.” Partain and Robert Lee Partain.
Lewis is survived by a daughter: Sheri (Mark) Riggs of Athens, a son: Kenny (Tracey) Partain of Etowah, and grandchildren: Garrett Partain, Sydney (Ryan) Adkins, and Gavin Riggs, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Kenny Partain, Mark Riggs, Garrett Partain, Ryan Adkins, Caleb Kirkland, and Gavin Riggs will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Christy McHone, his longtime special friend and caregiver, to Family & Faith Home Care, and to Dr. Charles Cox and his staff.
