Linda Faye Lankford Wilcox, a native and lifelong resident of Athens, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She retired from NHC of Athens after 15 years of service in the housekeeping department.
She is preceded in death by her parents: James and Carrie Thompson Lankford, her husband of 45 years: Rex Allen Wilcox, brothers: Roy, Billy, Ronnie, Ross, Dean, Troy (Faye), and Frank (Wanda), brothers-in-law: Doug Wheaton II and PeeWee Call, and a granddaughter: Harley "Bug" Ogle.
Linda is survived by her sons: Rex Wilcox Jr. (Tammie), Eddie Wilcox, Michael Wilcox (Lisa), and Danny Wilcox, daughters: Mary Knox (Chris), Tiffany Lenderman (Brian), Lisa Wilcox, Nikki Wilcox, and Stephanie Wilcox (James), 23 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
special grandson: Lucas Allen McLemore, sisters: Darlene Wheaton, Joyce Call, and Theresa Call (Larry), brothers: Jimmy Lankford (Diane), and Wayne Lankford (Bobbie), along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 -6:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Reverend Danny Brown and Reverend Robert Jenkins will be officiating.
Rex Wilcox, Jr, Eddie Wilcox, Michael Wilcox, Braedyn Wilcox, Josh Wilcox, Sean Wilcox, Bernard Ackah, Douglas Wheaton, Jace Knox, and Zayn Knox will serve as pallbearers.
