Mae Tallent Shattles, 84, of Athens, TN passed away on April 13, 2023, at NHC Healthcare of Athens. She was a lifelong resident of McMinn County.
Mae is preceded in death by her father and mother, Guffey and Elsie (Buckner) Tallent, her husband, Olin Paul Shattles, brother Harold Tallent, sisters Lvalena Moses, Lela Tallent and Janice Tallent. She is survived by her brothers, Thomas Tallent (Virginia), Carey Tallent, and Larry Tallent (Penny), and her sisters, Rachel Jones, Ivalena Robinson, Virginia Dodson, Helen Winder (Jerry), and Dana Shelton (Charles)along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. Pastor David Rogers will be officiating. Interment will follow directly after the services at Conasauga Cemetery in Etowah.
Mae’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
