Margaret Sue (Bryant) Hicks

Margaret Sue Bryant Hicks, age 83, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, 

passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. She was a member of Bethel Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents: Reed and Ersa Duckett Bryant, her husband of 63 years: James “Jim” R. Hicks, a sister: Allene Melton, and brothers: James “Bud” Bryant and Paul Bryant.

She is survived by her sisters: Linda Townsend and Joan Jones (Jerry), brothers-in-law: George Townsend (Eileen) and Gene Melton (Brooksie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and her church family, which she dearly adored.  

The family will receive friends at Bethel Springs Baptist Church from 10:00-11:30 AM on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM at the church with Rev. Jimmy Lewis and Rev. Gene Guffey officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Richesin, Colt Deverell, Zack Starnes, Aaron Holt, Tyler Jones, Cane Swanger, and Isaiah Lee. Margaret’s nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
