Marion Elizabeth Alexander Greene, age 89, native of Bay Springs, Mississippi, and longtime resident of McMinn County, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2024. She retired from Johnson’s Home Furnishings as a sales representative for over 40 years. She later served as a substitute teacher for Athens Head Start, where she received several awards for her teaching service. Marion was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
She is preceded by her parents: T.F. Alexander and Margaret Curtis (stepfather Emerson), her loving husband of 63 years: Luther Greene, Jr., brother: Edwin Alexander, infant brother: Jimmy Alexander, and her grandson: Dustin Thomas.
Marion is survived by her daughters: Mary Ann Womac and Natasha Page Fine (Patrick Woodside), sons: Ronnie Greene (Robbie) and Daryl Greene (Quennia), grandchildren: Trentin Fine, Charisma Fine, Patrick Woodside III, and Kimberly Godsey, great-grandchildren: Landon Greene, Miranda Godsey, Haley Godsey, Riverleigh Worthington, and Navy Worthington, a sister: Joyce Hope, and a brother: Jimmy Alexander, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Stan Cantrell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Athens Head Start 625 Green Street, Athens, TN 37303.
