Obituary
Marion Joyce Russell Plemons, 89, a native of Dallas, Texas and lifelong resident of Athens, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at her home.
Marion was a daughter of the late John L. and Lillie Salisbury Russell. She was also preceded by her husband, Sgt. 1st Class Jene Robert Plemons, daughters Lisa Janel Newman and Laura Jane Plemons, and sisters Beverly Jean Russell and Judith Lynn Russell McKeehan.
Marion is survived by her sons, Rocky Plemons (Tammy) of Madisonville, LA and Mark Plemons (Carol) of Etowah, a daughter, Melody Plemons Richt (Dr. Jerry Richt) of Cleveland. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Jason Plemons, Ryan Richt, Meghan Hyatt, Tyler Newman, Chelsey Richt, and Jacob Plemons, and great-grandchildren: Abigail Plemons, Ethan Coffman, Kira Newman and special friend, Rhonda Pressley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home. The family will then proceed to Cunningham Cemetery in Athens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
