Mary Ruth (Shattles) Coffey

Mary Ruth Shattles Coffey, age 79, of Athens, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at her residence.

Mary was a native of Spring City and longtime resident of McMinn County.  She was a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Craighead Shattles.  She was also preceded by her husband of 57 years Charles Wayne Coffey on October 15, 2019, and brothers Olin Shattles and George Shattles.

Mary was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by

Sister Lea Jones (Ken) of Olive Branch, MS;

Brother-In-Law Harold Coffey of Athens;

Sister-In-Law Geneva Kilkenny of Jacksonville, FL;

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 11 AM Monday, June 20, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Gill officiating.  Interment will follow at Clearwater Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 PM – 4 PM Sunday, June 19, 2022 and also from 10 AM – 11 AM Monday prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX  75231-4596.
