Michael Eugene Goines

Michael Eugene Goines, age 54, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. Born in Harvey, Illinois, on December 15, 1968, he was a resident of Athens most of his life. Mike was known for his infectious, happy personality. Most everyone who knew him called him “Uncle Mike”.  He loved to fish, the outdoors, and his family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father: Cam Jackson Goines, Jr., Paternal Grandparents: Cam Sr, and Ravenell Goines, and Maternal Grandparents: Gene and Ruby Roderick.

Michael is survived by his mother and stepfather: Patricia and David Norman, special friend, and companion: Lisa Hyde, sister: Connie Kopf, stepsister: Lisa Thrasher, stepbrothers: David (Michelle) Norman, Jr, and Duane (Dawn) Norman, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM on Thursday, November 9th at Ziegler Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM with Pastor Barry Briley officiating.
