Michael “Mike” K. McCabe, age 69, native of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at his home in Athens, TN, with family nearby, after a brief battle with cancer. He will be missed by his family and a whole host of friends.
Mike met Linda Borton in 1981 and married her in 1983, then later had two sons: Ryan McCabe and Cody McCabe. He graduated William Henry Harrison High School in 1973, Purdue University in 1979, and Andrews University Theological Seminary in 1984.
He became a Christian in 1978, and a year later became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. After graduating from the Seminary, he served as a pastor in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Tennessee until his retirement in 2017. He also narrated audio books for the Adventist Pioneer Library for 10 years. Mike’s hobbies include orchestrating and recording orchestral music, playing guitar, taking walks, hiking, biking, kayaking and riding motorcycles.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents: Robert Ray McCabe and Betty Lou Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Linda (Borton) McCabe of Athens TN, sons: Ryan McCabe of Athens TN, Cody McCabe (wife Jessica) of Chattanooga TN, sister: Pat DeLeo (husband Frank) of Seeley Lake MT, sister: Colleen McCabe of Lafayette IN, brother: Danny McCabe (wife Robin) of Philadelphia PA.
The memorial service will be private.
