Nellie Faye Duncan Baxter, longtime resident of Englewood, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was a member of Englewood Church of God for over 48 years. Nellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ollie and Evelene Bivens Duncan, her husband of 62 years: Charles Edward “Eddie” Baxter, and two brothers: Henry Duncan and Ralph Duncan.
Nellie is survived by her daughters: Charlotte Oliver (Jason) and Shelia Baxter Willis, sons: Buford Baxter and Zendall Baxter (Melanie), three sisters: Flora Cook (B.J.), Gerelean “Gerri” Presley, and Josephine Carroll (Tom), her brothers: Roscoe Duncan (Katie), Roger Duncan (Alice), Marvin Duncan (Jane), and Kenneth Duncan (Connie), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Englewood Church of God. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the church with Pastor Scott Cardin officiating. Interment services will follow at Hampton Cemetery in Englewood.
Nellie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
