Paul “Willis” Sliger, age 82, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025. He was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Johnny Stanton and Ola Mae Carter Sliger, his wife of 52 years: Frankie Sue Rayburn Sliger, a brother: Jackie Sliger, a sister: Evelyn Mullinax, and a daughter-in-law: Tracy Jane Sliger.
Willis is survived by a daughter: Wanda Guffey (Mike), sons: Paul Sliger and Donnie Sliger (Robin), grandchildren: Michael Guffey, Timmy Guffey (Calla), David Guffey (Caci), Carol Davis (Jeff), Cheryl Guffey, (Jeff), Brandy Hamilton (Zac), Johnny Sliger (Jessica), D.J. Sliger (MacKenzie), 36 great-grandchildren, sisters: Ruby Goforth (Dee) and Grace Ann Womac (David), along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Short Creek Baptist Church from 1:00-3:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jimmy Lewis and Reverend Mark Sliger officiating. Interment will follow at Short Creek Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Leamon, Rodger Swafford, and David Bunch.
