Phillip Wesley Gordon, age 77, a cherished resident of McMinn County since 1999, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Born in Parkersburg, WV, Phillip spent most of his life in the Mid-Ohio Valley. A pivotal moment in his life occurred in 1960, at the age of 12, when he began preaching the gospel. This passion for sharing the gospel became his life's mission.
From 1970 to 2012, Phillip pastored multiple churches, traveled as an evangelist from an early age, held a radio broadcast, opened a Christian bookstore, and published two books. Through these endeavors, he shared his love for Jesus throughout the United States. Phillip also enjoyed carpentry, building and remodeling homes, and had a love for singing. In the 1970s, he and his wife recorded a music album.
Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley Gordon and Nina Marie Deem Gordon Tracewell, and his siblings, Geneva (Paul) Caplinger, Donna Jean Patterson, and Jack Gordon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Adale Yvonne Ball Gordon; daughters, Jennifer Ruth Freeman, Naomi GordonSnyder, and Susanna and her husband Michael King; sons, John and his wife Sarah Gordon and Joseph and his wife Kelley Gordon; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Pamela Gordon; oneuncle, Dale Gordon; several nieces and nephews as well as Ryan Freeman and Casper Snyder who he loved as his own.
Phillip's legacy of faith, love, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
