Raymond Lee Roach, age 93, of Englewood, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He also served as mayor of the town of Englewood and as an Englewood City Commissioner. Raymond was a former employee of Bowater Southern Paper Company, served as a lobbyist for AARP and was an active participant in providing public water and sewer in the town of Englewood. He was a member of Englewood Christian Church.
He is preceded by his parents: Arlie Paul and Zena Walker Roach, his loving wife of 67 years: Muriel Dean Raper Roach, grandson: Jacob Buckner, brother: Franklin Roach, and a sister: Mabra Fain.
Raymond is survived by his daughters: Patti and Mike Kellar, Sherry and Wayne Marler, Melissa Roach, Katy and Michael Buckner, a son: Bill and Denise Roach, grandchildren: Lori and Brett Holt, Megan and Joel Honeycutt, Jordan and Alexis Roach, Benjamin Marler, Abigail Marler, Josh Roach, and Nicholas Buckner, great-grandchildren: Isaac Honeycutt, Shepard Honeycutt, honorary grandson: Jack Ingram, and a brother: Arnold Roach
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor Scott Cardin officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 2, 2023, at McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Jordan Roach, Benjamin Marler, Josh Roach, Nicholas Buckner, Jack Ingram, and Joel Honeycutt will serve as pallbearers.
