Roy Lee Anderson

Roy Lee Anderson, age 84, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his residence.

Roy was a native of Niota and lifelong resident of McMinn County.  He was a son of the late

Will and Johnnie Shoemaker Anderson.  He was also preceded by his wife Mildred Nunley Anderson, daughter Elaine Anderson, brothers Houston Anderson and Kenneth Anderson, and grandson Jeremy Guffey.

Roy was a member of the Rockview Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a truck driver for Anderson Farms.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Marie Hicks Swilley Anderson of Athens;

Daughters Sandy Akens of Niota and Melinda Smallen of Niota;

Son Roy Lee Anderson Jr. of Niota;

Stepchildren Terry Swilley (Tammy) of Riceville and Susie Plemons (Mike) of Riceville;

Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren;

Sisters Billie Ann Knox (Jackie) of Niota and Linda Jane Monroe of Las Vegas, NV;

Brothers Olen Anderson of Niota and Jerry Anderson of Niota;

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside Services will be at 12 PM Friday October 14, 2022, at Foster Cemetery with Reverend Mike Plemons officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Brian Akens, Angie Akens, Justin Smallen, Dallas Edwards, Nickie Anderson, and Robert Lowery.
