Roy Hickman Leamon

Roy Hickman Leamon, age 83, a native and lifetime resident of McMinn County, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was a member Solid Rock Baptist Church. Roy was employed with Davis Digging Service and TAG Construction and later, was a self-employed contractor. He was a gifted musician, having come from a long line of family who performed gospel music. Roy sang with groups such as New Gospel Ways, Happy Three, and the Dry Valley Boys. Later, Roy sang for many years with his children, David (Bubba) and Carla Jo.

He is preceded in death by his parents: James Arlen and Elsie Mae “Boots” Morrow Leamon, loving wife of 47 years: Bernice “Bobbie” King Leamon, and a brother: Ricky Leamon.

Roy is survived by his daughter: Carla Jo (Darryl) Carr, sons: David “Bubba” (Becky) Leamon and Robert “Charlie” (Brandi) Leamon, grandchildren: Amy Leamon Buckner, Joe Carr (John Rader), James Carr (Laura), Clay Leamon (Kristin), and Tyler Leamon (Brooke), great-grandchildren: Neecy Buckner, Tucker Carr, Adelynn Carr, Makenna Leamon, Scarlett Leamon, Mason and Carson, brothers and sister-in-law: Reverend Dennis Leamon, Billy (Sandra) Leamon, and Ann Leamon, Reverend Garry (Shirley) King, Larry (Sandra) King, Peggy King, Veronica King, Vickie Wright, along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Roy’s caregivers: Kim Gilpin, Janice Carpenter, Patsy King, and Valerie Young.

Visitation will be held at Ziegler Funeral Home from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Garry King and Reverend Scott Leamon officiating. Graveside services will be held at McMinn Memory Gardens on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Tyson Leamon, Scott Leamon, Brian Leamon, Sean Leamon, Caleb Leamon, and Nathan Leamon will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Burson, Anthony Leamon, Panky Patterson, and Greg Burnette.
