Sammie Lynn Stokes Womac, age 85, resident of Athens and native of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024. She was a member of Concord Methodist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Alton and Nina Campbell Stokes, her loving husband of 54 years: Joe Donald Womac, daughters: infant Angela Womac, Lisa Martinez, and Debbie Meideros, brothers: John Stokes and Dean Stokes, sisters: Virginia Johnson, Shirley Hale, and Midge Bates.
Sammie is survived by her daughter: Stacey Mathews (Tracy), son: Anthony Womac (Missy), grandchildren: Cody Mathews (Avery), Sarah Womac, and Joey Sewell, a great-grandchild on the way, and her sisters: Donna Sneed (David) and Lula Mae York.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens with Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
