Susie Lee (Hickman) Henry

Susie Lee Hickman Henry of Athens entered the presence of the Lord on June 19, 2023. She was 84 years old. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Athens. Susie was employed with Chattanooga Royal and retired from Riceville Elementary School as a teachers’ aide.  

She was the daughter of the late James Spencer and Lucy Allen Hickman. Susie was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Virgil Henry, brother-in-law: Ed Hennessee, father-in-law: Luke Henry, mother-in-law: Leona Henry.  

Susie is survived by her son: Tim Henry (Melissa), granddaughter: McKenna Henry, grandson: Peyton Henry, sister: Faye Hennessee (Ed), brother: Taylor Hickman (Donna), brothers and sisters-in-law: Don and Raye Henry, Wanda and Phillip Morrow, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special friends: Teresa Quirk, Brenda Mullins, and Larry Lane.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 with Reverend Tim Henry officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Riceville.

Peyton Henry, Ronnie Hennessee, Spence Hennessee, Roger Martin, Jason Hickman, and Jamey McKenzie will serve as pallbearers.
