Tommy Douglas O’Daniel, age 86, a native and lifelong resident of Athens, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Tommy was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church and was formerly associated with Plastic Industries.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Mae Hicks O’Daniel, his loving wife of 46 years: Carolyn Sue Moore O’Daniel, a daughter: Ronda Boyd, and his brothers: Kenneth O’Daniel, Donald O’Daniel, Jimmy O’Daniel, Larry O’Daniel, and a sister: Linda Dennis.
Tommy is survived by a daughter: Janet Walton, sons: Doug O’Daniel, Keith O’Daniel, Terry Williams, Jerry Williams, and Michael Williams, grandchildren: Aaron Williams, Jessica Simpson, Sara Williams, Kaylan Ottinger, Lauren Williams, Michael Walton, Joshua Walton, Stephanie Simmons, Brianna O’Daniel, Brian O’Daniel, Neyland O’Daniel, and Peyton O’Daniel, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister: Judy Hyde, several nieces, nephews, and friends, along with his faithful companion: Remi.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of NHC and Hospice of Chattanooga.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
