Tonya Joniece Booth Moore, age 57, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. She was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church and played piano at several other churches. Tonya was a devoted wife, mom, and Nona. She drove a school bus for McMinn County and was President of the local chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America. Tonya loved unconditionally and loved big.
A native of McMinn County, she is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Pat Casteel Booth, and her biological father, Curtis Payne.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Billy Marvin Moore, sons: Clay Moore (Amber) of Niota, Josh Moore (Whitney) of Clarksville, Skylar Moore (Delmi) of Athens, grandchildren: Kyla, John, Kati, Nick, Nicol, Aurora, and Hayleen, sisters and brothers: Tiffany Cardin (Richard) of Athens, Curtis Payne, Jr. (Melody) of Big Sandy, Texas, Todd Payne (Ruth) of Tampa, Florida, Kelly Kennedy (Chuck) of Golden, Texas, and Wendy Payne of Tampa, Florida, special friends: Sandra Davis and Sylvia Malone, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 PM with Billy Moore officiating. Interment will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Moore, Josh Moore, Skylar Moore, Richard Cardin, and Jason Pickel. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons: John Moore and Nick Moore.
