Torie Lacinda (Chastain) Underdown

Torie Lacinda Chastain Underdown, age 33, native of Cleveland, TN and current resident of McMinn County, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. She graduated from Walker Valley High School in 2009, and then attended Cleveland State Community College. Torie is currently employed at Denso in Athens. She was saved at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church in Cleveland.

She is preceded in death by her mother: Cynthia Hooper Helton, her maternal grandfather: Carl Ray Hooper, and her paternal grandmother: Mary Lou Chastain.

Torie is survived by her husband: Daniel William Underdown of Athens, father and stepmother: Joey Mitchell and Donna Chastain, stepfather: Thomas Helton of Cleveland, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Tony and Melissa Underdown of Riceville, sons: Rhett Morgan of Cleveland and Deacon Underdown of Athens, sisters: Sheena Hair (Jon) of Ocoee and Jenna Chastain of Cleveland, brother: Lebron Owenby (Tabi) of Cleveland, grandmother: Betty J. Hooper of Cleveland, sister-in-law: Brittany Byrnes (Jason) of Riceville, brother-in-law: Ted Underdown (Anita) of Riceville, paternal grandfather: Luther Chastain of Cleveland, special aunt: Barbara McCallum, along with many other aunts, uncles, and several cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00–4:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Leon Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Candies Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Charleston, TN.   

Dennis Saunders, Aaron Crisp, Mike Moses, Teddy Underdown, Brian Underdown, and Daniel Underdown will serve as pallbearers.
