Tracy Martin "Marty" Thompson

Tracy “Marty” Martin Thompson, age 63, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on September 23, 2025. He served as a a deacon for many years at Walnut Grove Baptist Church and was a member of the gospel group, “The Walnut Grove Boys”. Marty enjoyed spending time with his family, especially grilling out and relaxing in the pool. He was also an avid sports fan. Marty was employed by Textron Automotive/Collins & Aikman for 27 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Willa Dean Burton Thompson.

Marty is survived by his loving wife of 41 years: Kimberly May Thompson, daughter: Sheena (Shaun) Ryan, “Papaw’s boys”, his grandsons:  Brayson Ryan and Carter Ryan, siblings: Kim (Larry) Arnett and Randy (Kristi) Thompson.

A visitation will be held at Walnut Grove Baptist Church on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Van Sliger and Robert Ward officiating. Graveside services will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

Shaun Ryan, Johnny Walker, Broderick Arnett, Donnie Brogden, Keith Meadows, Jeremy Wilson, Robert Carpenter, Bob Ward, Merle Lepp, Jonathan Henry, Micah Bush, Jeff Hill, and Billy May

 will serve as pallbearers.
