Viola Mae (Peters) Leslie

Viola Mae Peters Leslie, age 103, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at residence.

Viola was a native of Baileyton, TN in Greene County and longtime resident of McMinn County.  She was a daughter of the late Alfred Ira and Laura Ruth Littleton Peters.  She is also preceded by husbands Foster Leslie and Fay Hicks, sister Opal McCormick, brothers Floyd “Pete” Peters, Albert Peters and Hobert Peters.

Viola was a longstanding member of the former Piney Grove Methodist Church and faithfully attended Tellico Avenue Baptist Church for the past several years.

Viola is survived by

Sister Joy Key of Athens;

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 5 PM Friday, July 1, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Cole officiating.  Interment will follow at Piney Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4 PM – 5 PM Friday.
