Virginia Carolyn Collins Brackett, passed away at her daughter Karen Turner’s home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, around noon. She had a short bout with cancer that spread quickly.
She was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church and one of their oldest members. She was active in the Senior Ministry until her health prevented her from serving. Her favorite verse was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Virginia loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and she taught her children to love these things, also. She had a giving heart, and always tried to help the needs of others.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years: Kenneth Wallace Brackett, Sr, father and mother: Hoyal Martin and Mary Celoras Kyker Collins, three brothers: James Hoyal, Richard Martin, and Thomas Edward, one sister: Mary Louise Guyer, and a special friend: Grover Hennessee.
Virginia is survived by her eight children: Kenny and Connie Brackett, Karen Turner, Sam (Pat) Brackett, Ben Brackett, Chuck and Louisa Brackett, Merney (Doug) Price, Jeff (Lisa Cook) Brackett, and Steve Brackett, grandchildren: Tammy (Dak) Keylon, Nathan (Carrie) Brackett, Josh (Erica) Brackett, Kelli (Nathan) Carroll, Danielle (Trent) Swafford, Christopher (Hope) Brackett, Jennifer (Holly) Price, Jaclyn (Kyle) Wattenbarger, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and one sister: Ann (Al) Harris.
To many, she was considered to be “mother” and “grandmother” over the years.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Greg Hutsell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Clearwater Cemetery with Virginia’s sons serving as pallbearers.
