Larry Eugene Swafford,age 73,of the Rogers Creek Community near Athens,went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2019,at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Toy and Hazel Brown Swafford and was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ricky Steven Swafford; infant sister, Virginia Swafford; brother and sister-in-law, Jackie and Frances Swafford; brother-in-law, Charles Womac; sister-in-law, Frances Wilson; brother-in-law, Paul Brown. Larry was a faithful Christian who attended Short Creek Baptist Church and served as a deacon there.
Larry was a veteran of the United States Army and he especially loved to fish with his friends. Being very humble and a kind person to al, he will be missed by many. He was a former employee of TVA, having worked at Watts Bar, Erin Steam Plant and Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant in Mississippi. Most recently he had worked at KB Manufacturing as an upholster.

Funeral services will be 5 pm Thursday at Short Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Martin Bowlin and Rev. Will Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Short Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm Thursday at Short Creek Baptist Church.
