James “Jim” R Hicks, age 86, of the Lamontville Community near Calhoun, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Tennova Healthcare in Cleveland.
Jim was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County. He was the son of the late Homer Hicks and Bess Hamilton Small. He was also preceded in death by his step- father;
Blaine Small, sisters; Carolyn Jones and Patricia Crayne.
Jim worked in construction at Bowater Southern for many years, was a member of the Labors Local #846, and served in the Tennessee National Guard.
He was a member of Bethel Springs Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for over 60 years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 63 years; Margaret Bryant Hicks of the Lamontville Community.

Sisters in law; Linda Womac (Claude) of Riceville and Joan Jones (Jerry) of Athens.
Several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 7 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Lewis and Rev. Gene Guffey officiating.
Interment will be at 11 AM, Wednesday September 14, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Randy Peterson, Mike Jones, Chris Bryant, Zach Starnes, Dan Townsend, and Bryan Jones
The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
