RICHARD “JD” MCDONALD

Richard “J.D.” McDonald, age 93, of Athens, passed away Saturday evening, April 11, 2020, at his home

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was preceded in death by His wife of 60 years; Marie Fairbanks McDonald, and his daughter Billie Lee McGee.   He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his Country during World War II.  He was also a retired Truck Driver.

J.D. was one of the finest men God put on this earth.

Survivors include:

Daughters;

Regina Fitzgerald and Trevor Kelly of Athens.

Louise Shadden of Etowah 

A Son and Daughter in law: Jim and Dee McDonald of Kingston.

14 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grandchildren, and 15 Great-great grandchildren.

When I come to the end of the road and the sun sets for me, I want no rites in a glom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free.

A Graveside service with military honors will be 2:30 pm Wednesday at McMinn Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Lake Walker officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jim McDonald, Tyler Williams, Trevor Kelly, Bill McDonald, Carl McDonald, and Jeff Duke.
