Clyde Duggan Borden

Clyde Duggan Borden, age 82, of Niota, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at his home.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Buster Cardin and Mary Borden Daugherty.  Also preceded in death was a son Buster Borden.

Clyde had owned and operated the Niota Skate Rink for over 39 years and was a member of Rock View Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years,

Mary Ann Hedrick of Madisonville

The family would like to express a special thank you to Caris Health Care and Sweetwater Home Health and Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Duncan officiating. Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Kaiden Ellison, Chase Russell, Nicholas Riden, Zane Borden, Dewayne Burger and James Shelton.

The family will receive friends 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Home.

Barbara Ann Hubert Berger, age 83, of Athens, TN,

Passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Parkwest Medical Center.

A native Brooklyn New York, She had lived in Athens for the past 20 years where she was active with the McMinn County Senior Center and Meals on Wheels. She was a daughter of the late William J. and Bertha Apmann Hubert.

Survivors include;

3 Daughters and son in law;

Deborah Ann and Richard Crivelli of East Northport, Long Island, NY

Kathleen Giacobbe of Chambersburg, PA

Diane Carol Pepitone of Athens, TN

3 Sons and a daughter in law;

Robert Charles Estabrook, Jr. of Deer Park, Long Island, NY

Kenneth Andrew Estabrook of East Northport, Long Island, NY

Richard and Deborah Estabrook of Florida

8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from noon to 2 PM at the funeral home.

A private burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Rose Anne Nell “Rose” Shelton Russell

Rose Anne Nell “Rose” Shelton Russell, age 49, of Riceville, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, at her home.

She was a native and longtime resident of McMinn County and was preceded in death by her mother Tommie Wilcox. Rose was a former employee with the City of Athens Parks and Recreations Department.

Survivors include her daughter,  Tosha Green and Justin Miller of Englewood.

A son, Billy Bandy of Decatur

James Alvin “Jimmy” Green, age 59, of Riceville, died Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his home.

He was born in the Lamontville community, near Calhoun and was a longtime resident of Riceville.  A son of the late James Franklin Green and Mary Hazel Linticum Green, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. Jimmy was a former pipe fitter and most recently worked in maintenance with Provision Real Estate and Property Management, LLC

Survivors include his wife of 40 years,

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Max Redman officiating.

Burial will follow in Lower Spring Creek Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chris Green, Devan Green, Hoyt Clements, Vince Messer, Robbie Davis and Alan Hiefnar.

The family will receive friends Tuesday night 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Home.

Harvey Durell Raper

Harvey Durell Raper, Age 67, of Decatur, TN, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, At his residence.

A longtime resident of Meigs and McMinn Counties, he was the son of the late Harvey Blaine Raper, step mother Irene Liles Raper, and his mother Hazel Lee Sagovia.  He had worked for Pioneer Furniture, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict.

Burial with Military Honors will be 11 AM Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Marty Wiseman, Harold Hicks, Larry Denton, Gary Howard, James Lamberth, and Logan Larson.
