Passed away Monday morning, September 11, 2017

At Sweetwater Nursing Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Tobe and Marie Farris Brown and was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Helms Brown; three brothers, Ed Brown, Paul Brown, and Lester Brown; three sisters, Betty Ghorley, Emily Breeden, and Mildred Decker and an infant sister, Louise Brown.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law,

   Vanessa Cook of Athens

   Becky and Wilburn Dawson of Niota

One son and daughter-in-law,

   Jeff and Alisha Brown of Athens

Five grandchildren: Nicholas, Lindsay, Brandi, Ashley and Ethan

10 great grandchildren

One sister,

   Pat Davis of Riceville

One brother and sister-in-law,

   Dean and Barbara Brown of Riceville

Sisters-in-law,

  Shirley Brown of Riceville

   Rose Brown of Riceville

Several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 7 pm Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry King officiating. A private burial will be in Short Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
